The Department of Pharmacoeconomics & Pharmaceutical Management of the SBMU School of Pharmacy has been established aiming to develop new pharmacy aspects. Bearing in mind the increasing drug consumption, and the ever-increasing presence of Iranian drug industries in rendering services both nationally and internationally (for drug product exports), there is a need to utilize scientific methods in order to evaluate and promote such activities in the country. Therefore, the activities of the department are performed at the economics and management aspects of drug industry and pharmacy.

The department trains specialists who are quite capable about the basics and applications of the science of economics and management in line with the new global interactions; the specialists can be the best policy-makers and planners for better utilization of the resources available at the country in order to achieve the higher levels of drug economic and management levels internationally. The department offers courses at PhD General in Pharmacy, MBA, and PhD; it also holds research projects and holds specialized workshops for developing economics skills and drug management in society at large.
